Local Lifestyle

Locals live an active lifestyle full of exciting adventures that others can only experience while on vacation. Spending a morning or late afternoon snorkeling in La Jolla cove or hiking in Torrey Pines are the types of activities that will help you to know you have chosen the right place to live. There is a major focus on keeping life local here and you see that reflected when you find everything you need at the local businesses. Walking or riding a bike from home to your favorite breakfast or lunch spot is simple, giving you both exercise and allowing you to support your community. Hiking trails meander throughout the town leading you to quiet places with amazing views while the bustling downtown, “The Village,” will treat you to high-end shopping and outdoor dining.

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

Enjoy a seat at the bar on the open-air terrace at George’s At The Cove or enjoy the California modern vibe in Level2 where you experience cocktails like never before. Starting with ingredients made in-house, then combined with high-quality spirits, you will be delighted with their creative selection and full-bodied taste. Have lunch or dinner while there so you can continue to enjoy the view and the delectable food.

La Valencia Hotel is an iconic venue with, not only a spectacular pool (which you can get a day pass for) but also an ideal place to enjoy an oceanside meal. Choose from pancakes at breakfast to fresh seafood and hand-made cocktails for dinner and you will want to keep coming back. Have their in-house sommelier pair the perfect wine with your parmesan sole or prime, bone-in steak so you can enjoy lingering over the ocean views with a lusciously prepared meal at Eddie V’s Prime Seafood.

Things To Do

La Jolla Cove is an ideal place to watch the sunset or take in the birds and sea lions hanging out on the beach. Locals love the cove for its peacefulness and the activities available. Activities like walking the beach while searching for the perfect shell or snorkeling to witness the wonders of the ocean floor are common occurrences at La Jolla Cove. When you are not being active, the local restaurants and shops will refuel you for your next adventure.

It is a given that beach life is popular in La Jolla with many local beaches to choose from, each offering its own vibe and activities. Windansea Beach is a great spot for surfers, but only if you are experienced as there are lots of rocks and strong undercurrents. If you want to enjoy the ocean views and leave the sand behind, Kellogg Park is a good option. It has grassy spaces to hang out on, a playground, and boat launches.

Saunter along the streets at the La Jolla Art & Wine Festival and enjoy the creations from local artists while listening to a wide variety of local musicians who perform everything from opera to classic rock ‘n roll. The beer and wine garden will give you a taste of local craft breweries and wineries.

Championship tennis, idyllic beaches, and waterfront dining are what members experience when belonging to the La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club. Working out is fun in their modern fitness center and you can renew yourself in one of their yoga classes on the beach.
