Local Lifestyle

People who live in Encinitas can easily walk to the beaches or they can stay inland to enjoy the local shops and restaurants. Neighbors will often know one another and nod or visit while out walking the dog or letting the dog play in one of the off-leash dog parks throughout the city. Hiking trails throughout the neighborhoods give residents easy access to trails leading through nature preserves. Local farmers markets connect the farmers to the residents providing them with the freshest food possible. There are also plenty of large grocery stores available to provide items you cannot get at the farmer’s market. The beautiful botanic gardens and community parks give residents plenty of opportunities to keep an active lifestyle. Encinitas Community Park is the perfect place to bring the entire family for a picnic or to meet up with friends.

The local farmers markets supply many of the fresh herbs used to compliment the seafood and handmade pizzas at Herb & Sea. The Scallop Crudo on the raw bar is paired with blood oranges, Meyer lemons, serrano peppers, and mint creating a masterpiece for you to enjoy. Wood smoked portobello and grilled swordfish with a coffee rub further add to the skills of the talented chef, but the star of the show is the handmade pasta and pizza that meld flavors together that will have you booking regular reservations.
 
You will be delighted with the spectacular views and fresh seafood dishes like the Ahi poke tower or the pacific paella at Pacific Coast Grill paired with a nice selection of wine, beer, and cocktails. There is no need to leave your kids behind when visiting Buona Forchetta where everyone is treated to award-winning Neapolitan-style pizzas and creative pasta dishes. 
 
Encinitas is known for its excellent surfing conditions, so if you are hoping to get into the action Hansen Surfboards is the perfect place to get all your gear, from wetsuits to boards. Things To Do

All shades of yellows, reds, blues, purples, and greens come alive at the Leucadia Farmers Market every Sunday. You will find the freshest fish, fruits, vegetables, honey, eggs, and anything else you need to create amazing dishes at home. There is a large variety of vendors, including a kitchen knife sharpening service twice a month. Ride your bicycle here and you will receive a dollar to buy whatever you would like.
 
Pristine beaches with the best surfing in the area give you plenty to do in Encinitas. Driving the historic Highway 101 through the downtown area gives you access to an eclectic mix of shops and restaurants. Popular beaches, like Moonlight and Swami’s, provide great opportunities to watch people and enjoy the near-perfect weather.
 
The San Diego Botanic Garden has thirty-seven acres of sheer beauty. Your visits will help you become more knowledgeable of the plant world and provide a great deal of relaxation within its lush oasis.
 

Schools

Encinitas residents will have the opportunity to choose from public and private schools both offering fantastic educational programs. Encinitas is in the Encinitas Union School District.
